David Malcolm Justice Centre – Perth, WA

Project Management – Supreme Court & Office

ACORPP played an integral role in the delivery of the 33,500m2 David Malcolm Justice Centre project. Working with the Department of the Attorney General, the State Government, the developer Mirvac and Broad Construction, ACORPP were able to deliver the project on time and within budget.

Our focus was to ensure a project of this scale, with many stakeholders, was well managed through rigourous process, consultative communication processes and accountability for all those involved. We are proud to be a part of the delivery of such a significant WA project, a part of the rejuvenation within the City of Perth.

First-Class Facilities

The overall fit-out of the tower and the State Administrative Tribunal buildings collectively represent the largest fit-out project ever completed by the State Government. As well as accommodating the Supreme Court’s civil functions, including hearings, mediation and public registry services, the tower is the workplace for staff of the Department of the Attorney General.

The vision was to create a contemporary, attractive and environmentally-friendly space, designed to seamlessly blend the old and the new. The public areas, court floors and office accommodation are open-plan wherever possible and make the most of natural light. The Supreme Court floors balance the significance of the State’s highest court but also creates a welcoming atmosphere, using open space, natural light, comfortable furniture and multi-purpose rooms.

Facilities (Supreme Court – Civil)

  • Innovative CCTV technology which detects ‘out of the ordinary’ events.
  • Ceremonial courtroom to accommodate 30 judges and 138 viewers in the public gallery.
  • Combined Central Office, Probate Office and Criminal Registry.
  • Eight trial courts, 12 multi-purpose hearing rooms and eight mediation suites.
  • Law library and reading lounge available for legal practitioners, judiciary and Government legal officers. It is the State’s largest single legal collection outside the university sector.

Facilities (public spaces, office accommodation)

  • Contemporary open plan office accommodation.
  • The building has a five-star Green Star Office Design rating and incorporates the first gas trigeneration (heating, cooling and power) plant in a Perth office building. This plant represents a low-carbon method of providing heating, power and cooling.
